Immediate Ceasefire and U.S. Accountability in Gaza

To: Rep. Carey, Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno

From: A constituent in Columbus, OH

March 20

I am writing to express my deep concern over the recent escalation of violence in Gaza and the role the United States is playing in enabling this crisis. The recent Israeli airstrikes that killed over 400 civilians—many of them women and children—following a ceasefire agreement are indefensible. The humanitarian situation is dire, and continued unconditional military support from the U.S. makes us complicit in the suffering of innocent people. The U.S. has long claimed to stand for human rights and international law, yet we continue to provide billions in military aid to Israel without conditions, even when it violates ceasefire agreements and international norms. This is not about partisan politics—it is about basic human decency and our moral and legal obligations. I urge you to: 1. Publicly call for an immediate and enforceable ceasefire to prevent further civilian deaths. 2. Support conditioning U.S. military aid to Israel on compliance with human rights laws and international agreements. 3. Demand that Israel allow humanitarian aid to reach Gaza’s hospitals and displaced civilians. 4. Stop shielding Israel from accountability at the UN and other international bodies investigating war crimes. This is not about supporting Hamas; it is about ensuring that the U.S. is not enabling the destruction of entire communities under the guise of counterterrorism. I ask you to take a stand for peace, for accountability, and for the countless civilians who are suffering. I look forward to your response and to seeing real leadership on this issue.
