Please vote no on Senate Bill 518.

To: Sen. Buck, Rep. VanNatter

From: A constituent in Tipton, IN

March 20

Please vote no on Senate Bill 518. First, the rules of 100 students leaving for charter schools specifically creates a target on larger school’s backs. If this was going to be a bill, it would have to be a percentage of students, and a high threshold to show the tax dollars being reallocated would be worth it. Second, if you want to create a focus on charter schools getting funding, it shouldn’t be taking funding from public schools in the first place. Public schools already struggle with funding, if anything, giving tax dollars to charter schools is going to make this worse, and it will be worse in higher populated areas with how this bill is written.
