National Security Outrage
To: Rep. Webster, Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody

I am writing to you as a constituent concerned about the national security breach the Trump administration has engaged in, which puts our national security at risk. As you know, it has come to light that Mike Waltz, the National Security Advisor, sent a SIGLAL message to several high-ranking intelligence officers and erroneously included a journalist from The Atlantic magazine. I know you don’t need reminding. I would like you to know when the Republican Party is going to take appropriate action and take steps to ensure the resignations of Mike Waltz, and Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of Defense. Included in the list of resignations should be Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence, Jon Ratcliff, Director of the CIA, and Marco Rubio, Secretary of State. Why would an American citizen make such a request? I am an American citizen who understands the basics of national security and the ramifications of such security breaches. Ensuring our nation’s secrets are secure seems to be an essential requirement of all those involved in this incident. For the President to blow this off as insignificant is a shocking dereliction of duty. His response of ‘he’s a good man, and he’s learned his lesson’ is ludicrous, dangerous, and insulting. That comment didn’t work for Sen. Susan Collins after Trump’s first impeachment. Look where that got us – a second impeachment, an insurrection, a constant stream of misinformation, the Big Lie that continues today. He sure didn’t learn any lesson other than he can get away with anything, and the Republican Party will let him. Yesterday’s hearing was more Republican gaslighting. Every one of those people lied, obfuscated, ignored, disrespected, blamed, or tried to bully those who were trying to get answers about our national security. The American people have come to expect more of the same behavior from the Republican Party. It’s shameful. It’s embarrassing. And dangerous. It’s terrifying that these people are so willing to throw away the security of our nation so they don’t have to take responsibility and can keep their jobs, with the primary objective seeming to be to continue to suck up to the President, whose only loyalty is to himself. This must stop. The Republicans must stand up to the President and do the right thing. Now is the time. What are they waiting for? An attack from a foreign country? A catastrophic event that devastates the country? A civil war? If these people aren’t appropriately held responsible, we can assume the only lesson they will have learned is that they can get away with anything because no one holds them accountable. In that case, we can expect more security breaches and careless handling of classified information at the risk of our national security. That’s what happened the last time someone said, “I think he learned his lesson.” Now look where we are. Do the right thing.
