Disappointed in censure vote
To: Rep. Himes
From: A verified voter in Oxford, CT
March 6
I am deeply disappointed in your vote to censure Representative Al Green following his outburst during the presidential address to Congress. At a time when our nation faces an authoritarian takeover, this is not a moment for rigid decorum but for bold action. We need our democratic leaders to rise to the challenge and fight back against forces that threaten our very way of life.
I have long respected your work, especially during my time as Oxford’s DTC Chair, and I expected you to stand with those in Congress who are stepping up to defend our democracy. Now, more than ever, it is imperative that you reconsider your approach and embrace the urgency of this moment.
