An Open Letter

To: Sen. Ossoff, Rep. McCormick, Sen. Warnock

From: A constituent in Alpharetta, GA

March 6

I, a Fulton County, GA voter, am writing to you, my elected representative, out of fear. As a public school teacher, I am worried about my students’ future if the Department of Education goes away, taking my school's much-needed Title I funding with it. As someone who lives and works in a beautifully diverse community, I am afraid of the physical and emotional damage the Trump Administration’s rhetoric regarding race, gender, sexual orientation, and citizenship status is already having on my students and neighbors. As a Jewish American coming of age as most Holocaust survivors are passing, I am uneased by Trump’s willingness to entertain Putin and Netanyahu’s fascist agendas. As a DC university graduate, I am hurting for my friends who lost their jobs and the people they can no longer serve because of Musk’s illegal gutting of the federal workforce. Through all the fear, however, I still have hope. I am empowered by my ability to use my First Amendment right to express my concerns to you and am banking on the little faith I have in the United States government when I firmly ask you to use your elected power to fight against the Trump Administration. I ask you to: Protect the Department of Education Pass legislation to prevent the ongoing assault on DEI initiatives, LGBTQ+ civil rights, and migrant communities Block aid packages that fund offensive attacks by Russia and Israel Remind The White House that it is the legislative branch, NOT the executive, that is in charge of regulating citizenship, migration, federal aid, and the federal workforce
