Hello. I am a Pennsylvania resident, born and raised and have always been interested in politics and have strongly believed in our democratic system of checks and balances. I thought our Representatives and Senators were in office not just thanks to their constituents but also, more importantly, obligated to representing them in Washington. These past few weeks have completely shattered me. I knew most of the Republicans are, and have been, taking orders from a separate branch of power (President), but given all that has transpired since January 20, 2025, I’m flabbergasted by the silence coming from the Democratic Party. Also, at this point, I believe any person with a pulse can see that our President truly believes he is above the law, becoming a tyrant, no matter what their political affiliation. It saddens me to no end that so many elected men (yes, mostly men) are too frightened to speak out. It’s like the old adage about evil surviving when good men do nothing. I strongly feel history will not remember you fondly for sitting by idly. I’ve been thoroughly disillusioned by what was once a strong and respected democracy. The world has rightfully turned away from us. Now your inaction is losing all of this for us. There is nothing else to say, I’m simply devastated.
