As California leads the nation in scientific research and innovation, it is deeply concerning to see the Trump administration dismantle federal scientific agencies and undermine vaccine access. The proposed California Institute for Scientific Research (CISR) would affirm our state's commitment to science and enable continued advancement through grants and loans for research in critical areas like biomedicine, climate, oceans, emerging health threats, and disease prevention. Given the administration's hostility towards vaccines, authorizing CalRx to produce and distribute vaccines is a prudent step to protect public health and address crises like the measles outbreak in Texas. California's economic prosperity and the well-being of our communities depend on defending science against anti-intellectual attacks. I urge your support for SB 829 to safeguard scientific progress and vaccine availability in our state.
