The Trump administration's firing of thousands of National Park Service and US Forest Service workers is deeply concerning and poses grave risks to the well-being of our cherished national parks and public lands. These protected areas were already facing severe staffing shortages, and further reductions will severely hamper their ability to support the immense influx of summer visitors expected this year. Inadequate staffing levels jeopardize visitor safety, resource protection, and the overall integrity of these natural treasures. It is unacceptable for such drastic measures impacting our public lands to be undertaken without proper oversight and accountability. I urge you to press for immediate congressional hearings to scrutinize this reckless action and its justification of "cost savings." Furthermore, I implore you to co-sponsor and actively champion the Save Our Forests Act and Protect Our Parks Act. These critically needed bills would restore depleted personnel and safeguard vital conservation efforts across our national forests and parks. Our national parks and public lands are priceless assets belonging to all Americans. We have a solemn duty to protect and adequately fund their stewardship for present and future generations. Robust staffing and sustainable management are essential to preserving these irreplaceable natural and cultural resources. I trust you will take decisive action to defend our national parks from further harm.
