Urgent: 36 Hours Before the Train Leaves the Station - Supporting Passenger Rail
To: Rep. Dean, Sen. Koehler
From: A verified voter in Cedarville, OH
April 1
I am writing to advocate for the expansion of passenger rail services throughout Ohio. Enhanced rail infrastructure will provide economic, environmental, and social benefits to our state. Please consider sponsoring and supporting legislation such as rejoining the Midwest Interetate Passenger Rail Commission (MIPRC) and supporting legislation such funding the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC).
The current proposed operating budget includes NO funding to rejoin the MIPRC or increased support for the ORDC, leaving rail efforts behind and a growing gap in meeting the needs and wants of your constituents.
Expanding passenger rail will create thousands of new jobs, support local businesses, and stimulate economic growth in both urban and rural areas. Enhanced rail services will connect major population centers, educational institutions, and economic hubs, making travel more accessible and efficient for everyone. Additionally, prioritizing passenger rail efforts has environmental benefits. Rail transportation reduces vehicular energy consumption and emissions, all in all contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment.
As my representative, your support is essential in this effort to make passenger rail expansion a reality in Ohio. Thank you for making my voice heard.
