As a physician, I am deeply concerned about the damage happening to our health system with cuts to HHS, CDC, NIH etc. As far as I know, this is unprecedented and unacceptable to just cancel grants mid study. People will DIE! I care for children in my work, and I have my own young children as well as older immunocompromised parents. I’m not concerned - I AM SCARED! I don’t know the specifics of what you can do in your position but I need you to do something. Please! Viruses don’t care about borders. We cannot shut out the scientific community. I want to add that I am in private practice and receive NO grant funding at all. But we ALL benefit from the painstaking work my colleagues are doing in the research field.
