Donald Trump's comments about seeking a third term as president, combined with his recent actions like the executive order on federal oversight of elections, are deeply concerning for American democracy. We must remain vigilant against any attempts to undermine or bypass constitutional procedures and safeguards. I urge you to vocally oppose any efforts by the president to declare martial law or take other anti-democratic measures in pursuit of holding onto power beyond constitutional term limits. He has signaled his willingness to defy established norms and subvert institutions to maintain his grip on the presidency. We need strong voices defending the integrity of our electoral process and the peaceful transfer of power. Please publicly denounce any suggestions of martial law and make clear it would be an unacceptable violation of civil liberties and democratic principles. Upholding the rule of law must be paramount. The American people deserve to have their voices heard and their votes counted fairly without interference. Our democracy is at stake.
