Restore Maj Gen Charles C Roger’s story to DoD website

To: Sen. Young, Pres. Trump, Rep. Messmer, Sen. Banks

From: A constituent in Leavenworth, IN

March 17

Why in the world would a post about a man who defended our country in Vietnam have his picture and story taken down on the Department of Defense website? Was it because he was black? You cannot ignore the history of the 70s for this man, Maj Gen Charles C Rogers! I lived in this time and know the sacrifice these soldiers made, and I remember the racism. So it is historical that a man that was black could actually be given a well deserved recognition, the Medal of Honor! I want you to investigate this horrible attempt to erase our history! I want an answer as to why it was removed! Is this about DEI? It is not! Its history! “On Saturday, US army Maj Gen Charles Calvin Rogers’s Medal of Honor webpage led to a “404” error message. The URL was also changed, with the word “medal” changed to “deimedal”. Rogers, who was awarded the Medal of Honor by then president Richard Nixon in 1970, served in the Vietnam war, where he was wounded three times while leading the defense of a base. According to the West Virginia military hall of fame, Rogers was the highest-ranking African American to receive the medal. “On Saturday, US army Maj Gen Charles Calvin Rogers’s Medal of Honor webpage led to a “404” error message.
