Please call a congressional hearing about lifesaving USAID grants which the Secretary of State gave a waiver to but which have been terminated. It's impossible to tell which USAID programs actually have funding now, despite the Secretary of State declaring certain lifesaving programs would be spared. I've read reports that NGOs serving these programs received letters this week saying their grants were terminated. Did you know that in 2024, there was a huge breakthrough in HIV treatment? In South Africa, they finished proving that a twice yearly shot could work just as well as current treatments. But the PEPFAR funding which would pay for a rollout of this incredible treatment, which was spared specifically by the Secretary of State, has disappeared, as far as I can tell? It's impossible for me to know. I wish Congress would get to the bottom of it, before tens of thousands of children die preventable deaths against the wishes of the Secretary of State (and any other person with a conscience).
