Nobody president can abuse their power to bully states

To: Sen. Kane, Rep. Krueger, Gov. Shapiro

From: A verified voter in Wallingford, PA

March 23

The president's demand for an apology from the governor of Maine and threat of unspecified consequences is an egregious abuse of power. No president should be able to bully or retaliate against states and elected officials simply because they hurt his feelings. This sets a dangerous precedent that could enable future presidents to punish states for personal grievances, undermining the balance of power in our democracy. We must stand united against such authoritarian overreach and condemn any attempts to wield federal power as a tool for political vengeance against those who disagree with or criticize the president. The integrity of our republic depends on defending the autonomy of states and elected representatives from these corrosive attacks. I implore you to publicly rebuke the president's conduct and ensure Maine does not face reprisals for the governor speaking truth to power.
