Reform Democratic primary system, empower voters over party insiders
To: Sen. Reed, Sen. Whitehouse
From: A constituent in Portsmouth, RI
March 21
As a lifelong Democrat, I can no longer support the party until the superdelegate system is eliminated from the presidential nominating process. The influence of unelected party insiders undermines democratic principles and fails to accurately reflect the will of voters. I urge prioritizing reforms to empower ordinary citizens and ensure the nominee is truly the choice of the majority. A fair, transparent process is vital for maintaining faith in election integrity. Concrete steps must be taken to minimize or abolish superdelegates entirely, aligning the system with the consent of the governed ideal. Failure to address this issue risks disillusionment and erosion of public trust. I implore you to champion meaningful changes upholding democratic values.
