Reject 'Trump Derangement Syndrome"

To: Gov. Walz, Rep. Olson, Sen. Draheim

From: A constituent in Mankato, MN

March 18

This proposed bill classifying "Trump Derangement Syndrome" as a mental illness is absurd and an obvious partisan attempt to mock and dismiss legitimate criticism of the president's policies and actions. It is a disturbing escalation of the Trump camp's years-long efforts to brand anyone who disagrees with them as mentally unstable rather than engaging substantively with the issues. Such a cynical ploy undermines public discourse and unfairly stigmatizes those with real mental health struggles. It has no place being enshrined in law. This bill represents a dangerous disregard for facts and an alarming disrespect for political dissent that is crucial to a healthy democracy. Rather than wasting time on this frivolous legislation catering to the far-right fringe, lawmakers should be focused on addressing the very real crises impacting their constituents - from economic instability to climate change to the erosion of democratic norms. I urge you to denounce this bill and refocus efforts on genuine issues affecting the lives of Minnesotans.
