Opposing Republican funding bill, prioritizing constituents over corporate interests

To: Sen. Gillibrand, Sen. Schumer, Rep. Tonko

From: A constituent in Pattersonville, NY

March 13

I urge you to oppose the draconian Republican funding bill and protect Congress' power of the purse by refusing to cede authority to the executive branch. This legislation fails to address the pressing needs of our constituents and imposes severe cuts to vital social programs. As an elected representative, your duty is to uplift the vulnerable and ensure a dignified quality of life for all. Prioritizing corporate interests over the well-being of everyday Americans is unacceptable. Instead of rubber-stamping misguided austerity measures, we implore you to fight for a budget that invests in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and economic opportunities that benefit working families rather than further enriching the wealthy elite. The people deserve bold, compassionate leadership that puts their interests first while preserving the constitutionally-mandated balance of powers.
