Protect the Department of Education and Student Loan Programs

To: Sen. Tuberville, Rep. Strong, Sen. Britt

From: A constituent in Madison, AL

March 26

I’m a constituent from Madison and am writing to urge you to protect funding for the federal student loan program and oppose the illegal move of the program from the Department of Education to the Small Business Administration. Access to federal student loan and aid programs are crucial to the ability of American students to go to college and embark on a path toward economic stability. The price of tuition at colleges has increased so much that it is almost impossible for a middle class student to attend college without the assistance of student loans. Please do not make this harder on our younger generation than it already is. I’d also like to request that you strongly oppose H.R. 899 and Trump’s executive order to dismantle the Department of Education. It is crucial that Congress stand firm against this blatant executive overreach and protect the department’s vital programs and protections for students.
