I'm a constituent here at 11:55 pm on March 31 watching Senator Cory Booker take a marathon stand on the Senate floor to protest actions by the President along with you and your fellow congressional Republicans to change Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits and processes.
Are you listening to him? He is presenting the cases of actual Americans from his state of New Jersey as well as other states who would be devastated by the potential cuts to Social Security benefits and services. He is now discussing one case where a recipient cannot get a timely appointment to handle important issues with his monthly Social Security check. This American citizen cannot reach Social Security by phone so he drives one hour to the office and still cannot meet with anyone without an appointment. How is that for service??? Service for a benefit that this American paid into for decades!
So many Louisiana seniors depend upon Social Security for their monthly bills as well as Medicaid/Medicare for their healthcare costs. What are these people going to do without this?
If Medicare for seniors is slashed my 90 year old invalid aunt who depends upon Medicaid for nursing home care could well have nowhere to live. She is bedridden and needs professional care.
Are YOU going to allow these Louisiana citizens to go without their hard-earned benefits and lose their homes to become homeless without any income?
This weekend there was an election in Louisiana for 4 constitutional amendments which all FAILED with huge margins with a much larger turnout than had been anticipated. A longtime Republican councilman in Jefferson Parish lost his seat by a large margin receiving only 28% of the vote.
Your constituents will remember HOW YOU VOTED when it comes time for your re-election. No more coasting on your job.
It’s time for you to work for your constituents.
