I am troubled by the revelations that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has been granted virtually unfettered access to highly sensitive government databases containing personal and financial information of millions of Americans. The pattern of DOGE staffers bypassing privacy laws, security protocols, and proper training is alarming and puts our sensitive data at risk of mishandling or misuse. Federal judges have repeatedly found that DOGE was improperly granted access to siloed databases without adequate justification or safeguards. The Privacy Act of 1974 was enacted to protect against the very scenario we are now facing - bureaucrats assembling complete dossiers on individuals without proper oversight. Yet DOGE seems to be doing exactly that, amassing a staggering amount of private data from across government agencies. I urge you to thoroughly investigate DOGE's data access practices and take immediate steps to rein in their access until robust privacy and security measures are implemented. Upholding the privacy rights of Americans must be the top priority. Our most sensitive personal and financial information deserves the highest levels of protection from misuse or unauthorized access. Please act swiftly to ensure DOGE cannot continue violating laws and norms designed to safeguard our private data.
