Thank you for contacting me about town halls in your area. I appreciate hearing from you and welcome the opportunity to respond. I believe transparency is important at any level of government. Americans place a great deal of value on open government and on the ability of average citizens to gain access to information about how government decisions are made. In terms of accountability and transparency, the United States is one of the freest, most accessible nations in the history of the world. However, there is always room for improvement. I believe that civil discussion, in which both parties can reach viable, bipartisan solutions, is incredibly valuable to our democracy. I understand that Americans across the political spectrum are passionate about shaping the future of our great nation and weighing in on the important matters their elected officials are addressing each day at the local, state, and federal level. It is an honor to represent the people of Missouri’s Sixth District and I value every single opportunity to learn more about the needs of my constituents. The opinions, ideas, and feedback I receive from my meetings, district travel, emails, and phone calls play a decisive role in shaping my positions and how I vote on legislation introduced by the United States House of Representatives. I also asked to know if you planned NOT to hold town halls. I want a clear answer, not this mush that you try to use as a response. NOTE: this is NOT a response and I will expect to hear WHEN and WHERE will you hold your next IN PERSON town hall and if you do NOT plan to hold one, I want to see you say that in writing.
