Pass the 2025 DREAM ACT

To: Sen. Hickenlooper, Sen. Bennet, Rep. DeGette

From: A constituent in Denver, CO

March 23

I am writing to respectfully urge you to support and co-sponsor the American Dream and Promise Act of 2025 (H.R. 1589), which provides a path to permanent residency and eventual citizenship for undocumented young people who were brought to the United States as children—commonly known as Dreamers—as well as recipients of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED). For over two decades, Dreamers have lived in legal limbo, despite growing up in our communities, attending our schools, working in essential jobs, and contributing to the economy and the fabric of this nation. Many are teachers, nurses, engineers, and members of the military. Yet, they still lack permanent protections and live in fear of deportation to countries they barely remember. The American Dream and Promise Act of 2025 offers a common-sense, bipartisan solution that reflects our nation’s values of fairness, opportunity, and justice. It allows young immigrants who meet specific criteria to earn lawful permanent residence and eventually citizenship, provided they continue to contribute positively to society. Specifically, the bill: • Protects and grants eligible Dreamers conditional permanent residence for ten years and cancels removal proceedings. • Provides a pathway to citizenship for eligible Dreamers by granting full Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) status. • Provides individuals with TPS or DED with LPR status. • Protects Dreamers and individuals with TPS or DED during their application for relief under the Act. • Provides eligible Dreamers with access to federal financial aid. • Allows eligible Dreamers located abroad to apply for relief. • Prevents penalizing states that grant in-state tuition to undocumented students based on residency. As your constituent, I believe this is not only a moral imperative but an economic and social necessity. Dreamers and TPS recipients are Americans in every way except on paper. It’s time to recognize their contributions and provide them with the stability they need to thrive and give back even more to the only country they call home. Please stand with Dreamers and support the American Dream and Promise Act of 2025 (H.R. 1589). Your leadership on this issue matters deeply to me and to countless families across the country. Thank you for your time and service.
