US Dept of Ed serves all students, those w disabilities. Protect it

To: Sen. Kelly, Rep. Hamadeh, Sen. Gallego

March 7

Department of Education is the agency best suited to protect the interests of children and adults with disabilities in K-12 education and in universities. This is not a task that can be “unwinded” into other agencies’ duties. My child and other children I have worked with in elementary education have benefited not only from the direct contact educators who have worked with them but also from the oversight mandated by USDE that ensures individual educational services meet the needs of students with unique abilities and needs who are insured an equal and equitable education through public schools by virtue of legislation as recent as 1990. Billionaires who are trying to convince Americans that the students, teachers, and advocates who benefit from US Department of Education work are somehow bilking the American public have also shamed themselves by mocking people with disabilities, claiming that those of us with disabilities are unfit to serve in our employment, and claiming that inclusion is degrading high quality work. US department of education has made inclusion for students with disabilities a hallmark of their work since 1990 so that our children are no longer excluded, warehoused or denied the high quality education of other American children. Congress created USDE as a great equalizer in a Democratic Republic; no group of oligarchs and their interns can undo that without your consent. Do not consent to tyranny in advance. No kings in the USA, and no crony oligarchs to hire, fire, and dismantle our institutions en masse.
