I’m writing today to urge you in the strongest possible terms to schedule hearings surrounding the so-called "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE). The completely opaque nature of their tampering with PII and sensitive data raises many red flags. Just who are these people working for?
Elon Musk's involvement and the Trump administration's attempts to evade all oversight raise serious questions about potential conflicts of interest, undue influence from special interests, and threats to Americans' privacy and civil liberties. Only criminals hide their activities. Only criminals or wantonly incompetent officials evade hearings and transparency about what they are actually doing.
DOGE has carried out sweeping personnel changes and policy shifts across the federal government, yet the public remains in the dark about its structure, leadership, and the full scope of its work. The administration's evasive and contradictory statements about Musk's role and authority, efforts to shield records from public disclosure, and use of non-governmental communication platforms all undermine principles of open government.
This blatant lack of cooperation prevents proper scrutiny of DOGE's actions, which have widespread implications for government services, programs, and citizen data. The public deserves clear answers about who exactly is directing DOGE's agenda, what interests they represent, and what access they have to sensitive personal information.
To uphold democratic accountability, Congress must hold PUBLIC hearings, and witnesses must be held accountable. At this point they must be compelled to disclosure detailed records related to DOGE's formation, leadership, operations, and efforts to gain access to confidential data.
Thorough congressional oversight is essential to understand the forces driving DOGE's assault on the federal workforce and civic institutions. The American people have a right to this information.
Call for hearings. Now. Issue Subpoenas to the hackers we want to see and hear these miscreants. Thank you.
