Renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America" as proposed in H.R. 276 is an unnecessary and costly endeavor that will require extensive updates across federal agencies and records. This bill represents a misguided use of taxpayer funds and government resources. Rather than allocating time and money to a superficial name change with minimal practical benefits, Congress should prioritize addressing substantive issues that directly impact the lives of Americans.
