The President of the United States sent federal agents to arrest a man for speaking. That is the most important part of the story regarding the Columbia student, a permanent resident, married to an American citizen, who was arrested illegally by ICE agents. To call this a serious issue would be a vast understatement because this is an utter abandonment of our first amendment rights. Regardless of your stance on Palestine this is tyranny right in front of your eyes. More and more American citizens are disillusioned with the Democratic party and not responding to this issue for the absolute constitutional crisis that it is, will only further that distrust. A tyrant ordered the arrest of a permanent resident for exercising free speech. He did not commit and was not charged with a single crime. If the Democratic party cannot see this for the crisis that it is how can we trust that you'll actually do anything? It is imperative that you understand that there is no negotiation and there is no playing nice that will ever appease these tyrants. I urge you as your constituent to speak out, call a national strike, halt the mechanisms of government. Do something that indicates you understand our government is being dismantled. I am hopeful that you will do more than speak on this, but take solid action. You have the ability to organize the American people, please do so before it is too late. If it is not already. With respect but extreme and existential urgency, your constituent.
