Congress must revoke the executive branch's unilateral authority to impose tariffs and restore this power to the legislative branch as outlined in the Constitution. Tariffs levied arbitrarily against allies and trading partners only serve to increase costs for American consumers and businesses while straining international relationships. Retaliatory tariffs have already been threatened, potentially sparking a trade war that could severely damage the U.S. economy.
It is imperative that Congress reassert its constitutional role in regulating trade and tariff policies through a system of checks and balances rather than allowing the president to wield this power unfettered. Tariffs should be a measure of last resort in the national interest, not a negotiating tactic that harms American families. Congress has a responsibility to the people to rein in this executive overreach and restore rational, lawful trade policies. Trump should be impeached for his reckless use of tariffs which caused tremendous damage to the economy. It feels like yet, another attack on Americans and our retirement system by our own President. Plead do what you can to protect our economy and American families from tariffs.
