The Trump administration's tariffs on Canadian imports are counterproductive and harmful to the U.S. economy. The rationale of using these tariffs to combat the fentanyl crisis is misguided, as only a minuscule fraction of fentanyl enters the U.S. from Canada. Instead, the tariffs will increase costs for American consumers and businesses, disrupt integrated supply chains, and damage a valuable trade relationship with a close ally. These actions create economic uncertainty and undermine fair trade principles. I urge you to support the resolution to terminate the national emergency declaration that enabled these unjustified tariffs on Canada. Maintaining good relations and open markets with our northern neighbor is crucial for American economic interests and global leadership. Please vote to end these harmful and unnecessary tariffs.
