Thank You for Supporting USPS—Will You Cosponsor H.Res.70?

Thank you for standing up for the U.S. Postal Service, especially in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Your efforts to protect mail processing in Iron Mountain and push for leadership that understands rural needs are deeply appreciated.
For me, access to the USPS is personal. My father writes weekly letters to my kids from across the country, and I serve on the leadership team of Letters Against Isolation (LAI), a volunteer organization that sends handwritten letters to senior citizens in aged care homes and senior programs. These letters provide joy and connection for thousands of volunteers and letter recipients in all 50 states—something only the USPS makes possible.
Beyond seniors, LAI also empowers students nationwide through a community service program I oversee. Writing letters builds empathy, connection, and communication skills, allowing students to make a meaningful impact. Without the USPS, these opportunities would disappear.
That’s why I urge you to cosponsor House Resolution 70 to affirm USPS as an independent public service. Privatization and service cuts threaten rural communities like ours, making mail more expensive and less reliable.
I also ask you to continue fighting for:
1. Stronger Oversight: USPS decisions must prioritize rural residents, not just financial bottom lines.
2. Stable Funding: The agency needs long-term support to prevent further cuts and ensure full staffing.
The Postal Service is a lifeline for seniors, students, and communities across the U.P. Will you cosponsor H.Res.70 and continue advocating for strong postal services?
Thank you for your leadership. I look forward to your response.
