Reject SB 210, Promote Democracy

To: Sen. Sollman, Gov. Kotek, Rep. Sosa

From: A verified voter in Hillsboro, OR

March 29

Oregon's vote-by-mail system has greatly increased voter participation and should be preserved. Requiring in-person voting on election day would place an undue burden on many Oregonians with work, family, and other obligations that make it difficult to get to polling places during limited hours. SB 210 appears to be an attempt to suppress voter turnout, which undermines democracy. The convenient and secure vote-by-mail system helps Oregon maintain one of the highest voter participation rates in the country. This proposal to restrict voting access should be rejected in order to protect and uphold our democratic principles and voting rights.
