I’m writing to ask that you stop allowing the Trump administration to defy the Constitution and do your job as a member of a co-equal branch of government to resist the Trump administration's blatant disregard for the rule of law.
The Trump administration has openly defied court orders to stop the deportation of alleged Venezuelan gang members. Trump officials, including Secretary of State Rubio, did not deny their non-compliance, instead making faulty excuses about the deportation plane’s location and the judge’s authority.
Through a litany of executive orders and with the help of Musk, Trump has unilaterally blocked congressionally appropriated funds from being distributed, a power that is exclusively assigned to Congress
A federal judge ruled that the Trump administration violated the “plain text” of his previous court order requiring the release of federally appropriated payments to federal programs. A senior official fired several FEMA workers who refused to continue blocking funding for various programs
In multiple social media posts and podcasts, JD Vance has stated that the executive branch can ignore judicial rulings, even those made by the Supreme Court.
Legal scholars agree that presidential defiance of laws and judicial rulings is a constitutional crisis, and it is clear that the Trump administration believes the law does not apply to them.
It is now up to Congress to reclaim their co-equal role in our government and stop the Trump administration’s reckless decimation of our government and the rule of law.
I ask that you publicly condemn their refusal to follow court orders and hold oversight hearings to investigate the Trump administration's open defiance of federal court orders.
You swore an oath to defend the Constitution, not Trump.
