congress I am writing today to demand that you take action to stop the ongoing dismantling of critical science organizations within the US government.
Three National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) offices in California are slated for closure as part of the Trump administration’s plans to terminate federal office leases nationwide. While the supposed reason for the closures is to save taxpayers money, the costs of the closures far outweigh any savings on office rent.
The offices designated for closure manage our nation’s coastal resources and fisheries, and protect marine life through habitat restoration.
Closing field facilities will compromise NOAA’s ability to provide essential services and damage the local communities and economies that rely on them.
This is yet another example of DOGE destroying science agencies necessary to maintaining the health of our environment and the health of our people, as well as the prosperity of our economy.
These agencies are essential to the wellbeing of both our planet and our country. Protect them!
