Hive Treatment and Prevention for all Americans

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing today as a concerned constituent to urge your continued support—and increased advocacy—for equitable access to HIV prevention medication (PrEP) and HIV treatment across our communities.
HIV remains a public health crisis in the United States, disproportionately affecting Black, Latinx, LGBTQ+, and low-income communities. Despite the incredible scientific advancements that have made HIV both preventable and treatable, systemic barriers continue to limit access to life-saving care. No one should be denied the opportunity to live a long, healthy life simply because they cannot afford or access medication.
Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) has been proven to reduce the risk of HIV infection by over 90% when taken as prescribed. Meanwhile, effective antiretroviral therapy allows people living with HIV to achieve undetectable viral loads—meaning the virus cannot be transmitted to others. These tools not only save lives but also reduce long-term healthcare costs and help end the HIV epidemic once and for all.
Unfortunately, stigma, lack of insurance coverage, and efforts to roll back protections under the Affordable Care Act have created significant obstacles to HIV prevention and treatment. We need bold leadership to ensure that access to PrEP and HIV treatment is protected, expanded, and fully funded. This includes supporting federal programs like the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, Medicaid expansion, and community health initiatives that prioritize underserved populations.
I urge you to champion legislation that upholds healthcare equity, eliminates HIV-related disparities, and affirms every person’s right to comprehensive, stigma-free care. The time to act is now—because lives are quite literally on the line.
Thank you for your time and your continued service to our community. I hope I can count on your support.
