I am writing to you as a deeply concerned citizen of Colorado who believes the time has come for bold, decisive action to defend our democracy from the existential threats posed by Donald Trump and the extremist forces enabling him.
Trump’s recent vow to dissolve the Department of Education, his push to deport individuals without due process, and his continued attacks on the Constitution and democratic norms are not just campaign bluster—they are a blueprint for authoritarianism. And yet, instead of standing strong against these threats, some members of the Democratic Party have chosen to capitulate, voting in favor of a GOP funding bill that guts essential federal agencies and paves the way for further destruction of our government.
This is unacceptable. The Democratic Party should be a firewall against fascism—not an accomplice.
Trump has already shown his contempt for the rule of law. He has:
Emboldened white nationalists and extremists while demonizing immigrants, LGBTQ+ communities, and marginalized Americans.
Undermined national security by attacking NATO, siding with dictators, and allowing adversaries like Russia to interfere in our elections without consequence.
Looted the economy for the wealthy while leaving working-class Americans behind, ballooning the deficit with tax cuts for billionaires.
Systematically dismantled the federal government by purging experienced public servants and replacing them with corrupt loyalists.
Now, Trump and his enablers are promising an even more extreme second term—one that will dismantle democracy as we know it. We cannot afford to meet fascism with appeasement.
Democrats who refuse to fight back are failing the American people and dishonoring the very values they claim to stand for. If you are unwilling to take a stand, step aside and make way for leaders who will. We need representatives who will not only oppose Trumpism in all its forms but also work aggressively to restore faith in government, protect civil rights, and safeguard our democracy from ruin.
This is not politics as usual. This is a battle for the future of our country. Will you fight, or will you fold?
I urge you to take immediate and forceful action against Trump’s dangerous agenda. Anything less is complicity.
