Reject harmful voting restrictions, protect election integrity and rights
To: Rep. DesJarlais
From: A constituent in Dunlap, TN
March 6
This proposed legislation raises serious concerns about disenfranchising eligible voters and creating undue barriers to the fundamental right to vote. Stringent documentary proof requirements would make registration unnecessarily burdensome, especially for vulnerable populations like the elderly, low-income individuals, and those lacking access to identification documents. Automatic removal processes based on flawed data could strip citizens of their voting rights without due process. Rather than imposing draconian restrictions that undermine democracy, we should focus on improving access to voter registration and strengthening security through auditable paper trails and post-election audits. Reasonable voter ID laws are one thing, but this bill goes too far in hampering the ability of eligible citizens to participate in elections. I urge you to reject this legislation and instead pursue balanced, evidence-based policies that protect both voting rights and election integrity.
