Senator Durbin,
At 79 years old, you’ve had decades to stand up for the people who elected you. Instead, with your support for this disgraceful spending bill, you’ve made it clear that you’d rather serve the interests of the wealthy and fall in line with traitorous Republicans than fight for struggling Americans. This bill is an insult to democracy and a direct attack on low-income Americans who rely on government to work for them—not against them.
You’ve been in office long enough. If this is the kind of weak, spineless leadership we can expect from you, then it’s time for you to retire. The people of Illinois deserve someone who will actually fight for them, not someone who enables the destruction of democracy and panders to corporate interests.
I will spend my time ensuring that everyone who voted for this betrayal is held accountable. You and your colleagues who voted for this bill are nothing more than Payless Putin’s minions, doing his work by undermining the American people. Your time in office should be over, and I will do everything I can to make that happen.
