I am writing to you today to beg you to cease the inhumane treatment of people through ICE and detention centers and immigration courts. Please reinstate funding for the UNACCOMPANIED CHILDREN'S PROGRAM. No person, and especially no CHILD, should be navigating the immigration court system ALONE. Defending this program puts children at high risk of abuse and trafficking. If you are truly PRO LIFE, then you should be seeking ways to protect the health and safety of ALL children. I am terrified and angry seeing young adults taken by force from their college campuses, young people going into hiding for fear of encountering ICE agents who will make them disappear and no one is held accountable for their treatment or even knowing their location! How is this AMERICAN?? The actions being taken by this administration are abhorrent when it comes to basic human rights and basic civility. As one of your constituents, I am begging you to please find your sense of humanity and find a better way. What we are doing is absolutely shameful.
