The time to weigh whether or not we are in a constitutional crisis is passed. With the current administration stating they will defy court orders, that alone is a crisis we have not seen in this country since Jackson’s defiance brought about the trail of tears. To meet the moment, democrats need to have a leader who will fight and who is not a coward. After the CR debacle last Friday and from comments in the past few weeks it is clear the democratic leadership in the House and the Senate is lacking the spine to confront or the ability to acknowledge this is not “normal business” and believe there are rational republicans. It is time to vote Chuck Schumer out as the leader of the Senate Minority and put in someone who has the integrity to stand up against fascism. Additionally Rep. Jeffries has not met the moment either, claiming that there is just nothing that can be done. If that is what he believes then fascism has already won in the US and you all might as well pack up and leave. You are our representatives. Yes, the people are fighting back. Yes we are doing what we can. But that is what we hired you to do. What our tax dollars pay you to do. Holding up signs or dressing in pink at a speech where Trump openly defies the constitution is not resistance. It is milquetoast and weak and does not a single thing to sway the other side to behave. They were able to hamstring so much during Biden’s administration when they were in the minority so why can’t you? I understand some of you got into this job because it pays well or because lobbyists pad your wallets and the idea of true civil servitude is foreign to you. Until democrats wake up and listen to their constituents to fight and not act like this is business as usual which it hasn’t been since 2016, I will not be funneling a single penny to your campaigns, to the democratic caucus in general, or even critical out of state campaigns for seats we need. Time to dry up your funds until you act on the moment. Bring up a vote of no confidence in Schumer and Jeffries and push to have real fighters take that mantle.
