Reject partisan funding bill, safeguard democracy and services

To: Rep. Meeks, Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand

From: A constituent in Kew Gardens, NY

March 14

I urge you to vote against cloture on the House Republicans' continuing resolution to fund the government. This partisan bill fails to address critical priorities and makes damaging cuts to essential domestic programs. Moreover, it would enable the executive branch's concerning attempts to undermine longstanding safeguards and oversight mechanisms without congressional approval. Rejecting this flawed legislation is necessary to protect vital services, uphold checks and balances, and compel a return to bipartisan negotiations on responsible government funding that prioritizes the needs of all Americans. This is our one and only chance to defy Trump. We lose all leverage if we allow this to happen. If you do not do this, be prepared to be primaries out of office. You are failing your constituents if you roll over and let Trump dictate what's to come.
