Allow Proxy Voting for Parents of Newborns
To: Rep. Turner
From: A constituent in Dayton, OH
April 4
I am writing out of concern for the current House issue over proxy voting for House representatives who are new parents. Please support this measure to allow them to continue to serve their constituents by voting in the weeks after welcoming a newborn, while also not having to sacrifice the best care in crucial first days with a new baby. Did you know that newborns exposed to great turmoil in their first 2 months of life are dramatically more likely to suffer with a wealth of other issues throughout the rest of their development? Show these serving parents care and grace to do their jobs, and show these infants the care and grace to be cared for by their parents and to know security and consistency. This is simply a tool to allow one to do their job better. The United States is filled with innovators and we have always embraced technological advances, this is simply an advance in job efficacy and efficiency. I ask that you stand with new parents and their newborns.
