This is a reminder that all elected and appointed officials, except the President, are required by law to take the following oath of office: "I, AB, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God." Upholding this oath is a solemn duty for everyone serving in the civil service or uniformed services. By taking this oath, you have vowed to faithfully execute the duties of your office while defending the Constitution. I urge you to keep this oath in mind as you carry out your responsibilities on behalf of the American people.
