The proposed legislation to exclude immigrant children
without legal status from Tennessee public schools is a severe violation of human rights.
Education is a fundamental right that should be accessible to all children, regardless of their immigration status. Denying these vulnerable young individuals access to education will have devastating consequences on their futures and perpetuate cycles of poverty and marginalization. We must uphold principles of human dignity, equality, and the best interests of children. Allowing all children to receive an education creates a stronger, more equitable society for everyone. I urge reconsideration of this cruel and shortsighted policy that would rob innocent children of vital opportunities for growth and development.
