I am your constituent and I am outraged at the ongoing human rights abuses in U.S. immigration detention centers—abuses that violate the Geneva Conventions, international law, and basic human decency. These facilities are operating as modern-day concentration camps, where detainees are dying, children are suffering, and asylum seekers are being subjected to inhumane conditions that should shame this nation.
This is not hyperbole. Reports from human rights organizations, former detainees, and even whistleblowers have detailed:
• Forced sterilizations of women in detention
• Extreme overcrowding and medical neglect, leading to preventable deaths
• Children separated from their families, locked in cages, and denied basic care
• Indefinite detention of asylum seekers, many of whom have committed no crime
• Abuse and retaliation against detainees who speak out
These conditions are a stain on this country and a violation of international human rights law. If the U.S. government will condemn other nations for such crimes, it must hold itself accountable for its own.
I demand that you:
1. Launch a full Congressional investigation into ICE and CBP’s role in these abuses.
2. Defund and shut down the facilities responsible for these violations.
3. Hold accountable those who enabled these atrocities—whether through criminal charges or impeachment where applicable.
4. End family separation and indefinite detention immediately.
5. Support legislation ensuring oversight, transparency, and humane treatment of all detainees.
If Congress refuses to act, history will remember every lawmaker who stood by and did nothing. You have a duty to uphold human rights, not enable war crimes on American soil. I expect a response explaining how you plan to address these atrocities.
