I find it increasingly difficult writing to you to voice my fears and concerns because I know what your answer will be. I will get a cheerful email that reminds me that Trump has been elected and has chosen Musk to do basically whatever he wants to do. You will remind me that you are excited about the changes being made and believe that they are in the best interests of the American people. You will continue to prove that you blindly support Trump and therefore Musk.
Then I will write you again. And your staff will send the same email to me again.
This will continue to repeat itself until one day when I’m no longer able to write to you because that privilege will have been taken away. Because voicing concern over Trump’s Executive Orders and other rash, hurtful actions (including the level of power given unquestioningly to Musk) will have become a criminal action. Because this will no longer be a free country. Because free speech will be a right only accessible to billionaires.
I am appalled that you continue to prioritize loyalty to Trump over loyalty to your people, to this country.
I am deeply disappointed that you support using taxpayer dollars to send Trump on golfing vacations, to use military aircraft to deport people, to make it easier for billionaires to make even more money. This is not why we pay taxes.
Shame on you for voting to cut funds for hungry children here and around the world, funds that support scientific research with direct benefits to our citizens, funds that keep public services serving the public.
I can’t believe you think what’s happening right now is laudable.
Or normal.
Or in the best interest of this country.
