Write I am absolutely appalled by this administration’s attempts to force congressional representatives to approve a budget that allows them to continue their current actions which are harmful to their constituents and to our reputation in international politics. The choices are not the budget trump and Elon want or no budget and a shut down. The choices are to support a budget that is appropriate and that does not divert funding from necessary government programs to tax cuts for the rich. We cannot abdicate our responsibilities in the areas of USAID. We have caused too many populations to become dependent on us and it gives us legitimate reasons to be involved in the politics of other and developing nations. We should increase funding for things that are necessary for our citizens and we should ensure our richest citizens are taxed fairly. It is not reasonable for the middle class and lower class to be taxed at higher effective tax rates, while allowing billionaires to pass nothing due to loss carry forwards etc. this country is at a precipice and you are supposed to push it away for it. I get that trump extorts you by threatening to cut you off from power and funding for future campaigns, but I do think the job that you ran for and have is the kind of job where you should expect those pressures and be able to rebuff them, rather than immediately folding, without an attempt to do the right thing. The state of Missouri is trying to legislatively override voter mandates. If representatives continue to ignore the will of the people, they are going to lose support anyway, so self preservation and giving in to trump is not going to stop this from effecting you. Please just do your actual job. Not the dismantling of the country that you have been participating in and not opposing.
