A Tufts University student, Rumeysa Ozturk, was taken into custody by U.S. immigration authorities near her Massachusetts home on Tuesday (3/25/2025), according to a video showing the arrest by masked federal agents. Her visa was revoked and she was not notified. Her 'crime' being a co-authored an opinion piece in Tufts' STUDENT NEWPAPER criticizing the university's response to calls by students to divest from companies with ties to Israel and to "acknowledge the Palestinian genocide." You must exert your leadership and your checks and balances. HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY BE SUPPORTIVE OF THIS OUTRAGEOUS ACT of disappearing students by taking them off the streets by masked agents without an opportunity to defend themselves. When will you speak up and put a stop to this absolutely untenable, un-American, and unlawful activity? This is not our country. You cannot stay silent, Senator.
