The administration's indiscriminate gutting of the National Nuclear Security Administration through firings and buyouts jeopardizes America's nuclear safety and security. Losing top scientists, engineers, safety experts and project officers en masse in the midst of a critical $20 billion per year effort to modernize our nuclear arsenal is reckless and irresponsible. This out-of-control power move leaves the NNSA severely understaffed just when it needs expertise the most to manage our 3,748 nuclear weapons effectively. Arbitrary cuts to essential federal agencies risk undermining core national security functions. I urge you to stop these dangerous workforce reductions at the NNSA and instead focus on rebuilding its ranks with qualified personnel to ensure our nuclear program remains in capable hands. Protecting America's nuclear capabilities from political power plays must be a top priority.
