I am writing my first letter you as my official representative. I’m 75 years old, and a 40 year resident of East San Diego county. I cannot believe what has happened since the Trump administration assumed power. I watch the news every day and am a guest that Elon Musk apparently makes most decisions and determines most of my government’s actions. However, I never had an opportunity to vote for or against Elon Musk. How can this happen in our democracy? The other advisors President Trump has surrounded himself with were never chosen by merit. My greatest concern is that they have no respect for truth or our constitution and laws. The debacle yesterday where highly classified information was discussed over Signal is horrifying and chills me to my core. Pete Hegseth has no experience to be defense secretary. He is so far in over his head that he apparently cannot see daylight. He lies frequently and without shame. Yesterday I watched him deny emphatically that he had anything to do with this security breach. No one who watched his finger pointing deflection could ever respect or believe a man like that. I taught school for 30 years, and I know a lie when I listen to one. He pointed his finger at everyone except himself. Mostly he blamed the journalist who reported the story. I expected so much better from an individual assuming the position of Secretary of Defense. I petition you to call for the immediate resignation of Pete Hegseth, and a thorough and fair investigation. We must determine if his actions were ignorant and incompetent, or if they rise to the level of treason. Thank you for taking the time to read my deep concern over this.
