Protect public land access for all Texans

To: Sen. Eckhardt, Rep. Howard

From: A verified voter in Austin, TX

March 18

This proposal to dissolve the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and potentially close or reduce access to state parks is concerning. Our public lands are a shared resource that should be protected and made accessible to all Texans, regardless of income. Restricting entry through closures or fees could deprive many residents, especially those from underserved communities, of the opportunity to experience the benefits of nature. Texas has a responsibility to safeguard its natural areas for current and future generations. I urge reconsideration of any measures that would diminish public access and amenities at state parks.
