I am writing to express my dismay at the irresponsible approach that DOGE seems to be taking with the Social Security Administration. Whilst I can wholeheartedly agree with the desire to prevent waste fraud and abuse, the manner in which it is being done is going to unfairly impact people who are rightly entitled to payments. For every action being proposed by DOGE there should be documented implementation plan and an impact analysis which does not just look at cost, but also looks at the impact on each population of recipients- and there should be no detrimental impact to the most vulnerable within our society.
The statement which was reported from the government official that it’s only fraudsters who would complain about delayed or missing statement shows an administration which they s woefully out of touch with the reality of life for many people dependent on social security payments. Being reckless with the approach to cutting waste risks destabilizing effects on many peoples’ lives which could have the unintended consequences which will result in more cost to the government in the long run. Don’t be penny wise but pound foolish.
As a representative for Kansan constituents I would expect you to be vigorously ensuring adequate access to SSA services within Kansas, and that all facility closure plans have been discussed and agreed with the community.
